FAQs

What is Coaching?

Coaching is the convergence of the development of psychology, human learning, and modern neuroscience.
The underlying philosophy of coaching is that humans have an immeasurable amount of energy, ability, and wisdom that is waiting to be unlocked and set in motion. We can create the life we envision faster by partnering with a coach who enables us to harness those resources to facilitate change and realize our potential.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as: ‘Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.’

What is the difference in terms of Consulting/Advising, Mentoring, and Coaching?

Consultants/Advisors are specialists who assess, diagnose problems, and propose solutions, insights, and recommendations.
Mentors have expertise in a particular area, and they share their real-life experience as a guide to mentees.
Coaches use the Coaching Process to empower the client to uncover their solutions.
The key difference is about Power Dynamics. There is a certain power or status difference in consulting and mentoring, in which consultants and mentors own the source of wisdom; Yet in coaching, the absence of power difference and equality is the cornerstone.
The true power of coaching emerges in the power of indifference, which fuels the true creativity and inner drive, and motivation to implement the change.

What is the difference between Coaching and Therapy?

Therapy often focuses on the impact of the past on to present. Coaching focuses on the present and future.
As a coach, we build on clients’ strengths, values, and conscious goals, and unconscious dreams and hidden talents, to work with them to co-create and manifest their purpose.

What is the difference between Coaching and Friendship?

  1. The Importance of Confidentiality: In coaching, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the relationship. Coaches are bound by ethical codes to protect their clients' privacy and ensure that sensitive information is kept confidential. In friendships, confidentiality is not always explicitly stated or enforced.

  2. The Focus on Self-Discovery and Empowerment: Friendships are often about shared experiences and emotional support. Coaching is explicitly designed to facilitate self-discovery (strengths, weaknesses, and potential) and personal/professional development.

  3. The Role of Challenge and Confrontation: Friendships often avoid confrontation or challenging out of fear of hurting feelings, coaches are expected to challenge their clients' assumptions, beliefs, and behaviors in a constructive and supportive manner. This can be uncomfortable at times, but it is essential for growth and progress.

  4. The Role of Structure and Accountability: Unlike the often spontaneous and flexible nature of friendships, coaching involves a structured process with an elevated level of intentionality. The coach provides support and accountability to expedite clients’ growth

Why is Coaching important NOW?

  • Human’s never-ending quest for existential meaning and life purpose intensifies, with the advent of groundbreaking AI technology advances. As the age of human-machine coexistence arrives, it calls for significant change and shift in our current mindset as humans. Yet we all have our Modern-Day Paradox: Knows (maybe not yet) what needs to change, yet find it very hard to change mindset, behavior, and habits, which are required for the new version of self.

  • Coaching is an exquisite art of listening; it cultivates people’s capacity to listen without assumptions. This is the absolute necessity for any entrepreneurship journey from designing a product with empathy, finding product-market fit, articulating value prop, crafting positioning and messaging, to founder-led sales and building enduring trust with investors, team members, customers, and community.

  • When the most AI advancement invokes this new wave of cognitive revolution, and have already reaped the low-hanging fruits in the human conscious mind, coaching is a vehicle to tap into the human unconscious mind. This process aims to uncover humans’ deeply buried emotions and limited beliefs, which impede our personal awareness expansion.

Do I need Coaching?

Coaching is a privileged benefit that corporations offer to their senior leaders to further develop and expand them.
Using a coach has been shown to improve self-confidence, improve relationships, improve communication skills, and improve work-life balance. Businesses that hired a coach say they at minimum made their return on investment.
Coaching is ideal for someone ready to take full ownership of their transformation and willing to be challenged in their fundamental belief systems, break old habit cycles, and have small or big breakthroughs in their lives, careers, and business ventures. Coaching provides clarity, confidence, energy, and accountability to move forward.

Why It Matters to Find a Certified or Credentialed Coach?

Given the significant effect Coaching has on a person and the profound impact on society, the International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading credentialing authority in the coaching profession, has set standards for training in what is referred to as core competencies and ethics, which commit to coaching’s core value: Professionalism. Collaboration. Humanity. Equity.
